Workflow for ELAN & NVivo

Dear ELAN experts,

maybe you can help me with a problem that some colleagues here are facing for their planned collaborative project: They want to use videos of conversations and interviews of d/Deaf and hard of hearing people who will use both speech and sign language. They want to code and analyze the data both in ELAN (the tool of one collaborator) and NVivo (the tool of the other collaborator, mostly used for qualitative analysis). What is your suggestion for a workflow if I want to use both tools? Could they use the NVivo automatic transcription tool, check and modify the transcriptions and then work with the resulting transcriptions in NVivio and also import them to ELAN to further analyze the data? Or should they create time-aligned transcriptions in ELAN and import them to NVivo? What is the best way to create automatic transcriptions for this type of use in ELAN?

I am stuck as I have worked with ELAN, but not with NVivo, and both collaborators of the planned project only know their own tool and have never combined them. If you should have any suggestions, please let me know!

Thanks a lot and all the best

Sonja
