We are experiencing a lag issue when using three videos (each under 2GB) in ELAN 5.8. We are using Mojave OS (v10.14.6). The videos are synchronized and then one video will lag behind by several seconds. The lagged video will eventually will catchup or “snap back” to the other two as we continue to transcribe the videos. Has anyone else experienced this issue or have a suggestion for troubleshooting it?
I have similar issue on ELAN 5.8 running on Mojave. I am playing several wav files simultaneously and in most cases slightly different part of the files are played. In my case, the lag is less than a second. They sound as if the voices echo. I found it strange that sometimes the lag disappears.
In the case of video, does the order of the videos (in the Linked Files window) matter? E.g. is it always the same video that lags, regardless whether it is the first or the last in the list? Or is it always the last video in the list, regardless which of the three videos happens to be the last one?
Working with synchronous audio from two or more sources will always be hard, I guess, even the slightest lagging behind is notable and distracting.
I am not sure if the same video or the audio always lags, but I noticed a fact; in my data set, the file which delays is the master media (so at the top of the list). But, strangely, just after I changed the master media in order to check if the master media always delayed, the lag disappeared, even after I reset the master media to the original file. Another eaf file with different data set shows no delay now as well.
I have to correct my former observation; not the master media but all the other media seem to delay when the phenomenon occurs.
But, is the side effect of changing the master media, the disappearing lag, consistent and reproducable?
Well, the delay occurs still once in a while, and in most cases it temporarily disappears when I stop and restart playback just after I noticed a lag.
