Hi! I am running into the issue that when I try to use mp3 files with ELAN, the waveform is not displayed and there is no option to open clips with PRAAT. ELAN is handling wav files fine, and PRAAT is handling both wav and mp3 files well. Does anyone have an idea how to fix the issue? Is there some setting I need to adjust? Thank you!
Up to now a waveform is only displayed for wave files and indeed, this makes the option to open a selection in Praat inaccessible to other file types. Waveform visualization for other audio file types and/or the audio track of video files is on the wish list, but it is unknown when this can be implemented.
So, at the moment the easiest way to get access to this option is to convert the file to wave.
There is a chance that it is possible to configure the Export->Media clip using script function such that the Praat script to open a selection in Praat is called instead of a command to clip a part of a media file. The approach may depend on the platform/OS, it is a bit of a hassle.
