Can you add the error message that is probably written in the ELAN log, indicating why the JMMFPlayer can’t play the file? Can be found in View->View Log…
I assume this is on Windows 7 or higher?

-Han

The OS is Windows 7. The error msg seems to be this one:
INFO: No media export functionality available

Here’s the actual log:

Preferred media framework ‘JMF’ can not handle: file:///F:/DRIVES/S022.mp4
Using JMMF Player for file:///F:/DRIVES/S022.mp4
Jun 17, 2015 5:08:11 PM mpi.eudico.client.annotator.commands.ExportMediaCA <init>
INFO: No media export functionality available
Jun 17, 2015 5:08:11 PM mpi.eudico.client.annotator.commands.ClipMediaCA <init>
INFO: Found clipping script: clip-media.txt

Thanks

That error message is not related to media playback (the message is a bit misleading, we’ll update that message, which is about M2-edit, in the next release).

It is a bit strange that apparently ‘JMF’ is set to the preferred media player, but that doesn’t matter much; eventually the JMMF Player is tried. And there is no message that JMMF Player cannot play the file. So, I was just wondering: it is not such that the player is actually there but that the ELAN window or the media area has to be resized a bit to make the video visible in the window?
This is an annoying, known problem with this player on Windows 7.
