Subtittled ELAN writings are white on a white background, how can we change the font colour when the background is white?

Hello,

In most subtitle export options of ELAN it is not possible to specify a colour (or font, location etc.), the subtitle text file only contains the text and the timings. Rendering attributes are determined by the media player.

In case of e.g. VLC Player (the screenshot looks like it could be a VLC example with default settings) a lot can be changed via the menu Tools->Preferences->Subtitles.
