I have been having this issue for a long time and have not found a solution. When I select an annotation to play in an ELAN file with video, the cursor starts moving and the audio plays no problem, but the video lags and often doesn’t catch up before the end of the annotation. Is there a way to fix this? It makes analyzing video very difficult! thanks!
Is this only occurring when playing a selection, or also with normal play back?
Is this issue similar to any of the other play back problems that have been reported here (and was any of the suggestions to those problems useful)?
Otherwise maybe you can add some more information about the video files (encoding, format)?

Hi,
I have the same problem, and it has made transcribing almost impossible. I am using compressed video files because the originals won’t work in QT7/ELAN. I have followed the recommended codec settings for MP4 files outlined in the “Processing videos for use with ELAN” PDF, but still get incredible lagging between any command and the response by ELAN. I am running ELAN on a 2018 Macbook Pro OS Mojave. Any help would be must appreciated.

Difficult to say. What is the resolution of the video files?
I’m not sure if increasing the amount of memory available to ELAN would help (probably not, but this can be changed in the Info.plist file in the app Package Contents folder, the -Xmx option)?

Which version of ELAN? Are there no error messages in the log (View->View Log…)?
