I am having some problems with the segmentation mode, and I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this or if there are any ideas on how to solve the issue. In my project, I need to make adjacent annotations. I have selected this option in segmentation mode, but about 50% of the time, ELAN makes non-adjacent annotations instead when I hit the enter key. This seems to be more frequent when I have stopped the recordings to make adjustments to annotation length and then restart it again. My colleague in the same project has the same problem, so it doesn’t seem to be related to my computer specifically. I use ELAN 6.7 and my colleague uses 6.6. We are both on Windows. I would be grateful for any suggestions you might have.
Hi Anna,
Are you using “one keystroke per annotation, fixed duration” ? because in this mode, each keystroke creates an annotation of a set length, and unless you trigger them back to back, gaps can appear between annotations.
Can you share the screenshot of the segmentation panel where the segmentation keystrokes are selected.
Thank you for your reply. I am using the mode “one keystroke per annotation, adjacent annotation”. See attached screenshot (In Swedish, but I hope it is comprehensible).
Hi Anna,
It is strange that with the mode “one keystroke per annotation, adjacent annotation” selected there are non-adjacent annotations getting created, It will be easier for me to say more if i can look into file, as i am unable to replicate the issue, you can share the .eaf file along with the .pfsx file so that i can replicate it on my machine.
You can share the file to my email ( divya.kanekal [AT] mpi.nl).
Does the tier you are segmenting has Controlled Vocabulary and do they have any shortcut keys assigned to them ?
Can you also check if you experience this in ELAN 7.0 ?
