I have a directory of 34 ELAN files and am trying to export all 34 as a single tab-delimited text file. The EAFs are on the large side - total size of my directory is 22MB.
I’ve saved my directory as a search domain for the multiple file export, but every time that I do the export, I get a different result in terms of the file size and number of EAFs included in the export, even when using exactly the same specs in the interactive export dialog. Due to my specs and file size, the export that results is 6-7 MB (varying because not every file gets there every time).
This behavior is bizarre. Why is it happening? Is this just a matter of ELAN not being able to handle this volume of data when writing to a single text file?
It seems unlikely to me that a size of more than 7 Mb of the export file would be a problem. I can’t verify that at the moment, the largest set of files I have at hand at the moment is 17 Mb and the export result is 2 Mb and exactly the same after several exports.
But you could check in the log (View->View Log…) after the export if there are any error messages at the end of the output, indicating what the problem could be (in case of doubt, you can send the output to me, han.sloetjes AT mpi.nl).
Another way to verify if the size is the problem, is to create e.g. 3 domains, each with 11 or 12 files, and try to export each of them. If that works correctly and reliably you have at least a way to continue work (but it would be good to know goes wrong in the first scenario).
