How can be large a imported video file in ELAN?(size of file)

ELAN doesn’t check the size or length of a media file, it just hands the file over to the media player. Whether or not playback works smoothly etc. can depend on many factors. That is often just a matter of trying and testing.

I have tried to add a 40.8GB video to ELAN and when I try to import it the software just shuts off? any ideas on how to fix this?
working on windows - ELAN 5.4
Does ELAN completely crash (such that the log isn’t accessible anymore via View->View Log…)? In that case maybe there is still some information in the saved log file (elan0.log or elan1.log etc. in the ELAN data folder)?
I’m not sure if it is of any use to increase the amount of available memory for ELAN. I don’t think I have any 40 GB video files around to test with.
