java error

hello, i am a first time elan user and i need your help.
i installed \ELAN 5.4 and java 8. I created a mp4 file from a MTS source file. But upon opening it in ELAN, i got an error message

JMMF player cannot handle file: inknown error code occurred while creating a Microsoft media foundation player
cannot play back the file. the format is not supported
quicktime/qtexception
javax.media.noplayerexception: cannot find a player for [file]
the javaFX based player requires java 8 or higher
the javasound media player does not support the media file: could not get audio input stream from input stream

please give me suggestions to fix this problem.

In principle the JMMF player should be able to handle an mp4 file. It sounds like there is something in the encoding that is not supported. Can you check whether your settings are in line with the recommendations in this media encoding guide?
