"Go to next frame" stuck

It seems the media control buttons and keyboard shortcuts are having some problems on my system, but only in the forward direction. I can move back by any interval allowed by the buttons or keyboard shortcuts, but the forward intervals don’t work properly. Am I alone in this problem?

Mac 10.5.7
ELAN 3.7.2
QuickTime Pro 7.6.0

Several problems are known with respect to media playback on the Mac.
There are 2 variants of these players (see previous message) both with possible glitches.
I don’t recall receiving reports on the same problems as you describe. And I can’t explain these problems: programmaticaly more or less the same thing happens when stepping forward or backward.
What kind of media files are you using?

It seemed that one of the 3.7.x updates solved my problem, only for it to come back in 3.8.0 on Snow Leopard, though with a slight modification.

Now, the Command+(Right Arrow) keystroke will move the cursor one frame to the right, and then a second time, but it then gets stuck and won’t move a third or subsequent time. What’s more, the length of the frames/steps is variable, so the first step seems to be one frame (20 ms), but the second step seems to be longer (35 ms).

As for stepping backwards, I seem to be able to do so as many times as I want, but the problem of irregularity applies here, too. Here are some sample steps, in order, all in ms: 54 71 72 72 71 37 72 71.

I’ve tried using both the Cocoa QT and QuickTime for Java options in the preferences pane. My current system is Mac OS X (10.6), ELAN 3.8.0, and QuickTime Player 10.0 (51). Any ideas on what’s up would be great.

Thanks,
Kyle

Oh, and we’re using .mov files.

I ran into the same problem today on a Windows 7 machine running ELAN 3.4.1, and have reported it as a bug. The frame forward command gets stuck when the Edit Preference “Frame forward and frame backward jump to begin of next/prev frame”. Uncheck that option, and things work like they are supposed to.
