I am used to exporting texts from Elan to Flex. When doing so, the initials of participants that are in a tier called participant-note-en (Type: note, language: en) in my Elan template automatically get into the field called Note in Flex. There in Flex I am actually using a custom field called Speakers (encoded in English) for that information. Would there be any way to directly import the participant-related information into that custom field ?

I guess you can achieve this in the third step of the export to FLEx dialog. In the lower part of that pane (Type-lang value configuration) it is possible to add custom values for the language and/or the type properties. If you select the type radio button and add the value speaker, this value becomes available in the drop down list in the type column in the table of that same pane. If you then click the cell in the type column and the participant-note-en tier or note tier type, the value speaker should be selectable in the list. If you select it there, the note tiers will be exported as speaker types in FLEx.
