I’m using ELAN to do some manual transcription and have found it to be a really useful tool.
However, one major issue is that I cannot see the spectrogram of the audio. This can be really useful for finding the start and end points of speech inside noise (when it’s not so clear from just the waveform).
Does anyone know if this is possible? I know I can “open selection in Praat” but it’s not very practical.
Well, we know at least several people who would like to have a spectrogram in ELAN and there are probably many. It is already on our wish list/request list. We had a look at an open source library written in Java but that didn’t lead to successful integration so far.
Anyway, it would be good to have an idea if anyone else likes this feature.
This is a message to anyone who missed the announcement of the release of ELAN 6.3: that version contains a first implementation of a Spectrogram viewer.
