ELAN->FLEx->ELAN issue

I have created an .eaf (ELAN → FLEx → ELAN) file using the import/export functions on ELAN and FLEx. Toward the beginning of the file, the scrolling is OK. After about 100 annotations, scrolling slows down. By Scrolling I mean going from annotation to annotation in annotation mode. Has anybody experienced this problem? I have a Macbook Pro. Here is a sample file (with medial files removed):

Hi Chris,

Yes, you’re correct, there’s still some optimization of the drawing code to be performed. The problem isn’t so evident with less tiers and less annotations, but it is with amounts as in your example file. We’ll have to look into that.

Two questions: Why doesn’t the slowing down seem to affect the original ELAN file (only the EL->FL->EL file)? Is there anything I can do in the meantime? That is, is there any setting I can choose to speed things up just a bit?

I assume the original ELAN file contains (much) less annotations? It seems that especially the subdivision tiers, which contain the majority of annotations, slow down the application. You can (temporarily) hide tiers, via the right-mouse button context menu of the tier names area (Show/Hide More…) but, in my case, leaving even only one of those tiers with more than 2700 annotations visible, already slows down the scrolling.

Depending on the exact task you want to perform, you could maybe switch to Interlinearization Mode (Options->Interlinearization Mode)? You won’t be able to see the video in that mode (in case you have video linked), but you can play the sound.
