Hello,
I’m experiencing trouble working with ELAN. Whenever I load audio files and try playing them, the cursor moves at normal speed. The sound, however, is only played back in ca. 0.5s-long bits. Then it briefly stutters and a new sound bit follows, continuing right where the previous one left off. After the original length would be finished, the cursor simply continues moving into nowhere, despite no sound waves being there. It only stops after the stuttering sound arrives at the end, which is usually after more than twice the expected time.
It makes it impossible to work, as the sound waves do not match the recording at all, starting from the first seconds.
I’ve tried using different sound files and using ELAN 6.3, 6.0, and 5.9. I’ve also already changed to the Windows Look&Feel.
Thanks in advance!

Hello,
That’s a very peculiar effect, I have no idea what could cause this.
I assume among the file (types) you tried, there was at least an uncompressed PCM wave file?
In the preference pane where you changed the look & feel, there is also an option to choose between different media frameworks. Do all frameworks suffer from the same strange playback problems? (The file has to be closed and opened again to get the selected player framework.)

Hi,
I am unfortuntely not technically skilled enough to tell whether the wave files I used are uncompressed PCM files. I tried different media frameworks and with each one, I experienced the same issue.
However, I was just able to resolve it by using the Windows compatibility troubleshooting assistant. I now run the program in Win 8 compatibility mode and it works!
Thanks for the reply and, hopefully, if anyone else ever encounters this strange issue, my trial-and-error workaround will be helpful!
Best
