Dependent tiers

Hi

I have followed the instructions on creating depending tiers (https://www.mpi.nl/corpus/html/elan/ch02s09s06.html), but the window for selecting the different tiers does not open. If I select one segment I can copy that to the child tier, but only one at the time. Can you please help me out?

Hi Jacob,

Difficult to say, without the data at hand. The link you copied does not refer to a page containing instructions on how to create dependent tiers.
Does that window not appear at all, or is it simply empty? In the former case: are there error messages in the log (View->View Log…), in the latter case: are there actually depending tiers?

Thanks for answering. I can manage to create dependent tiers, I can manually copy from parent to child. Also when I activate a segment I can copy that individual following the instructions in the link. I want to be able to copy multiple segments - but the window is not showing. But the menu items are disabled when I activate the tier. Any ideas?

I’m sorry Jacob, there are a few things I don’t understand. First of all you write “I can copy that individual following the instructions in the link”, but the link you added in your first post is about creating annotations on dependent tiers for all annotations of s source tier?

I also don’t understand your last sentence: by activating a tier, do you mean double-clicking the tier name in the left panel with the tier names? And which menu items are then disabled?

But most relevant is probably this: if you choose Tier->Create Annotations on Dependent Tiers… and no window appears (not even an empty one), we really should have a look into the log (as I mentioned in my previous reply).
