Crosshair stuck at beginning

The vertical red line crosshair is stuck at the beginning of .eaf files. I can click and hold to make a selection highlighted in blue, but anytime I make a normal click anywhere in the file, it moves my view back to 0:00 where the crosshair is stuck. This means you literally can’t do anything with the file. I had this problem before at it affected all .eaf files, but then I uninstalled ELAN & deleted all the leftover ELAN files (except the .eaf ones), and when I reinstalled it, everything worked fine again. This time, it is the same problem in ELAN, but it only affects all the files in one folder. The files in another folder work fine. Now when I uninstall ELAN and delete all the leftover files then reinstall, ELAN is not fixed, and it still has the exact same problems. This makes me think there is something wrong with the files, but I have no idea what or why it would affect all the files in just one folder, many of which I had never even opened before on this computer. My computer runs Windows 10. I even tried installing ELAN 6.9, but it still had the same problem.
This problem occurred seemingly at random after working on some annotations for a few minutes. I did not press anything unusual or change any settings. There are several other people on my team with the exact same files, none of which have encountered this problem.
The audio and video files also don’t show up in ELAN for any .eaf in this folder, even though the .eaf files in another folder are able to read their media files straight from the cursed folder.
I have tried experimenting with the settings to try and solve the problem, but nothing has helped at all.

Hello,

Can you share the screenshot of Edit → Edit Preferences → Platform/OS . I would like to look at the preferences there.
Also in Edit → Edit Preferences → Platform/OS → Java Microsoft Media Foundation, could you please select the “Log messages at debug level” and once you face the issue (crosshair getting stuck at the beginning of the file ) attach the logs for us ? You can get the logs from View → View log and save it. You can share the log files and screenshots to me [Divya.Kanekal AT mpi.nl].

In File->Linked Files..what all files are listed. And where are the linked media files stored ?
You mention that it only occurs with all files in one folder and another folder work fine. Do these files in another folder which works fine have different media files linked or both folders share the same media files ?

Best,
Divya
