I’m planning on exporting elan transcripts to the ATLAS ti environment for further exploratory analysis. I’ve been able to take simple elan transcripts and successfuly export them to ATLAS. But I can’t use any of the coding-annotations from ELAN and make them work as codes/quotations with ATLAS. Is there any software converter that you could recommend that might facilitate this process. (e.g., XML translator) Does ELAN belong to, or support the work of REFI?

ELAN was not involved in the development of REFI. We have been in touch with some members of the consortium, but so far no attempts have been made to convert ELAN data to a REFI Codebook (if that’s the right terminology). As I remember the mapping of concepts wasn’t immediately clear, but that was just at first glance.
I’m not aware of existing software that can convert ELAN files to ATLAS. I assume a simple and/or straightforward XML transform will not be sufficient. I’m happy to have a look in case you know how the output of your data should look (in order to be imported in ATLAS), given your coding in ELAN.
