This sounds like there might be something wrong with the ELAN file (if this happens only/mainly with this one file). ELAN doesn’t update itself, so if Windows wasn’t updated just before the freezing started, changes in the software setup can probably be ruled out as possible cause of the freezing.
Thank your for your answer. The error was occurring on several files. Thanks to your recommendation I’ve checked the .log and reinstalled my Java. The problem seems to be solved, it has only crashed once since but I’ve been able to keep on with my work.
