How can I associate a Lexicon to a Tier Type in order to annotate in Interlinearization Mode?
I have created a Lexicon in order to parse (i.e., divide into morphemes) and gloss single words. However, I am not sure how to let the Analyzer know that I need this specific Lexicon to proceed with the semi-authomatic annotation.
I tried to click on “Change Tier Type” > “Lexicon Connection”, but when I click on the “+” bottom, the writing appears “The Lexicon Service does not have a working client”.
I could reproduce your scenario.
When I created the Lexicon and directly went to “Change Tier Type” > “Lexicon Connection” I could add the lexicon entry fields with the “+” button.
Then I closed ELAN and opened and directly went to “Change Tier Type” > “Lexicon Connection” then I did not see the Lexicon in the list.
Solution:
If you go to Interlinearization mode and select your Lexicon there and come back to “Change Tier Type” > “Lexicon Connection” then you can see the Lexicon and its fields being listed.
I will look into this why it doesn’t get listed at the first time when we open ELAN
Thank you for your swift reply! I tried and it should work.
Since we’re at it, I’d like to discuss with you another connected issue. When I update the Lexicon with new entries, even though I insert a gloss, sometimes I cannot see it in the visualizing window. I attach screens to exemplify. Do you know the possible reason behind?
I tried many times to reproduce the scenario, I tried by creating new Lexicons and adding entries to those lexicons, but unfortunately I am unable to get the empty gloss with new entries. Do you notice the missing gloss for all new entries or it occurs randomly ?
And when you do “Edit” on the entry with missing gloss, do you see the option to add the gloss there ?
