I have made a new template for my data analysis which features CV, type and tier names similar to those I used previously. I now would like to apply the new template to the already analysed dataset (several eaf files) by merging with or copying existing annotations to the tiers of the new template.
However, different stereotypes are used in the former and the new template. I wonder how to operate these modifications? Do I need to copy / reparent each original tier in each individual file to do so or could there be a quicker way?

Hello,
Although it is difficult to estimate what will or won’t work in your exact situation, but there is an option you can look into, under File->Multiple File Processing->Update Transcriptions with Template… It is best to apply it to a copy of the files and it has a “dry-run” option which gives you an overview of what it can change/update.
Some of the intended changes that this function does not support, you might be able to achieve with File->Multiple File Processing->Edit Multiple Files… And it might be you still have to make some of the changes manually.

Many thanks for your answer. I tried the update of a copy of one of these files with the template as you suggested. I do not notice any difference in the file afterwards (dry-run option was not activated). In fact, looking at the report, it says that the changes have been applied:

Hmm, that is strange. I could imagine that maybe one or two of the elements failed despite a positive message in the report, but all of these without error messages, that is strange.
Are/were there maybe any error messages in the log (View->View Log…)? Was the file at all overwritten at the end of the process (based on timestamps)?
