Hi there, we have a student working in ELAN who recently updated to 6.1. Since her update, ELAN has been crashing frequently: “my screen goes black and everything closes”. In trying to troubleshoot, we attempted to find error messages in the system.log, but her .elan_data folder does not contain anything like “like C:\Users\user_login_name”. Any advice on next steps?

I’m afraid without additional information it is hard to identify the cause of the problem.
Just to be sure, the “.elan_data” folder should be inside the “C:\Users<login_name>” folder (the “home” folder of the user). In case you located the “.elan_data” folder, it should contain at least a file “elan0.log” (and maybe “elan1.log” etc. too).
There might indeed be error messages in the system’s log too; if so, these can be found in the Windows EventViewer.
