- Description : Ruth Saovana-Spriggs is currently a PhD Scholar at the Political Science and International Relations and a part-time Research Fellow at the Linguistics Department at the Australian national University, Whe speaks Teop as her first language and is an applied linguist with a specialisation in literacy. From 1980 to 1988, i.e. before the civil war, she was the provincial language and literacy coordinator of Bougainville (North Solomons Province). In the Teop Project, she does all preliminary transcriptions and translations and works together with Jessika Reinig and Marcia Schwartz on the edition of the recordings. In addition, she compiles word lists and particular semantic fields in the speech community and discusses the meanings of words with local language experts.
