Perception
The task in these sessions consists of an experiment where the speaker picks out the best exemplar for the color terms in Yurakaré from a chart. The goal is to establish language specific focal colours. The task and chart were developed at the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics (cf. Majid 2008) Majid, Asifa. 2008. Focal colours. In Asifa Majid (ed.), Field Manual Volume 11, 8-10. Nijmegen: Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics., La tarea en estas sesiones consiste por el hablante en elegir el ejemplar el más representativo de cada término de color del yurakaré a partir de un muestrario de colores. Esta tarea ha sido desarrollada por el Instituto Max Planck de Psicolingüística (...
This task was designed at the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics (cf. Majid & Levinson 2007) to elicit vocabulary for color using a subset of the Munsell chips from the World Colour Survey. Majid, Asifa, and Stephen C. Levinson. 2007. The language of vision I: colour. In Field Manual Volume 10, ed. Asifa Majid, 22-25. Nijmegen: Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics., Esta tarea ha sido desarollada por el Instituto Max Planck de Psicolingüística (ver Majid & Levinson 2007) para elicitar vocabulario de color, usando una parte de las muestras del World Colour Survey. The speaker is presented with a drawing of a particular form, and asked to give the name in his/her language for that form, if possible. The goal of this task is to investigate how languages encode shape. This task was designed at the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics (cf. Levinson & Majid 2007) Levinson, Stephen C. & Asifa Majid. 2007. The language of vision II: shape. In Asifa Majid (ed.), Field Manual Volume 10, 26-28. Nijmegen: Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics., Se presenta al hablante un librito con dibujos de formas. La tara para el hablante consiste en dar nombres yurakaré para las formas. El librito y la tarea han sido desarrollados por el Instituto Max...
The tasks collected below this node are designed to elicit smell vocabulary from speakers using a standardized kit, developed at the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics (cf. Majid, Senft & Levinson 2007). The speaker is confronted with a smell which is released after scratching a chemically prepared piece of paper. S/he is then asked to give a Yurakaré name for that smell. Majid, Asifa, Gunter Senft & Stephen C. Levinson. 2007. The language of olfaction. In Asifa Majid (ed.), Field Manual Volume 10, 36-41. Nijmegen: Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics., Las tareas bajo este nudo se dirigen a recopilar vocabulario de los olores, usando una colección de estímulos...
The tasks collected below this node are designed to elicit sound vocabulary from speakers using a standardized kit, developed at the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics (cf. Levinson & Majid 2007). The speaker is confronted with a sound which s/he is then asked to describe in Yurakaré. Levinson, Stephen C. & Asifa Majid. 2007. The language of sound. In Asifa Majid (ed.), Field Manual Volume 10, 29-31. Nijmegen: Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics., Las tareas bajo este nudo se dirigen a recopilar vocabulario de los sonidos, usando una colección de estímulos estandardizados, desarrollados por el Instituto Max Planck de Psicolingüística (ver Levinson & Majid 2007)....
In the sessions below this node, the speaker is confronted with five different samples of taste from a standardized kit, developed at the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics (cf. Senft, Majid & Levinson 2007), and asked for the Yurakaré name for that taste. Senft, Gunter, Asifa Majid & Stephen C. Levinson. 2007. The language of taste. In Asifa Majid (ed.), Field Manual Volume 10, 42-45. Nijmegen: Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics., En las sesiones bajo este nudo, se presenta al hablante cinco muestras de sabores de un kit estandardizado, desarrollado por el Instituto Max Planck para la Psicolingüística (ver Senft, Majid & Levinson 2007), y se le pregunta el...
The sessions below this node display a task in which a blindfolded speaker explores textured material from a booklet with his/her fingers, and is asked to give the Yurakaré name for the feeling of the texture. The booklet and the task were designed at the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics (cf. Majid, Senft & Levinson 2007) in order to elicit vocabulary for tactile experiences. Majid, Asifa, Gunter Senft & Stephen C. Levinson. 2007. The language of touch. In Asifa Majid (ed.), Field Manual Volume 10, 32-35. Nijmegen: Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics., En las sesiones bajo este nudo el hablante, que tiene los ojos vendados, toca con sus dedos una serie de de...
