      • Description : The Project CITABOL has studied Italian speakers living in Bolzano. The speech of each participant has been observed through different communicative tasks characterised by different levels of stylistic variation (reading of a story, reading of a word list, reading of tongue-twisters, map-task, semi-structured interview). The original audio files display sufficient acustic quality to perform phonetic and sociophonetic analysis. Beside the focus on phonetics the data constitute a corpus valuable for studying a regional variety of the Italian language which until now has been poorly described. The data are thus useful for sociolinguists not only interested in linguistic variation in South Tyrol, but possibly also across Italian varieties.
