Yali

This sub-corpus contains material collected by Sonja Riesberg and Kristian Walianggen during the funding period of the DoBeS project “Documentation Summits in the Central Mountains of Papua” (2012-2016). Most of the data were collected in the Apahapsili area (i.e. in the village of Apahapsili and the surrounding hamlets), but it also contains a few recordings made in Angguruk. The corpus structure is organised by genres. It contains conversational data, explanatory texts, songs, historical explanations, elicited data, which mainly encompasses phonetic and prosodic elicitation, and data that was collected with special linguistic stimuli (such as, for example, the pear movie).
This sub-corpus contains audio recordings and written material collected by Dr. Siegfried Zöllner between 1961 and 1975, during his time as a missionary of the Vereinte Evangelische Mission in Angguruk. The corpus is organised as follows: 01-Lebensbaum und Schweinekult contains material related to Zöllner’s PhD dissertation (with the same title), a comprehensive treatment of the (Angguruk) Yali’s religious beliefs . On the one hand, this sub-corpus contains the dissertation as it is published (in LS text), on the other hand, it the respective original audio recordings that built the basis for Zöllner’s dissertation (in LS recordings). 02-Spoken contains all other recordings that are not...
