A caretaker (mother, aunt of grandmother) read the book "Klop, klop, wie is daar?" (Koide 1988) to her child. For the purpose of the experiment, this book was provided with text in Papiamentu.

A caretaker (mother, aunt of grandmother) read the book "Slaap lekker, mijnheer Beer" (Murphy 1987) to her child. This book has text in Dutch.

Description: Twenty-five Antillean or Aruban caretakers (mothers, aunts or grandmothers) in the Netherlands read books to their child. The children were in the first or second grade of the Dutch primary school. Their average age was 5.3 years (sd -= 9 months). Three books were read: Vijf neer (no text), Slaap lekker meneer beer (Dutch text) and Klop klop (Papiamento text). More details are documented in two papers based on these recordings, listed below.
