The data on the Carib language is collected by dr. Berend Hoff in the period 1955-1965. See: B.J. Hoff, The Carib Language, Phonology, Morphology, Text and Word Index. Verhandelingen van het Koninklijk Instituut voor Taal-, Land-, en Volkenkunde (Royal Institute of Linguistics and Anthropology) Vol. 55 (1968), Martinus Nijhoff: The Hague. The original recordings on tape were digitalized in 2006 in Leiden, by Berend Hoff. The latter owes a debt of gratitude to the Phonetic Laboratory of Leiden University for making available the necessary facilities, and especially to his colleague Jos Pacilly, for instruction and assistance, and for the final organization of the material. The corpus is organized in 4 sections: Section 4, Section 5, Section 6 and Section 7. Section 4 consists of 16 stories all recorded in Surinam. This Section corresponds to Section 4 of the mentioned Reference, in which transcriptions and translations of the audio files can be found. Section 5 consists of 16 stories of which the first 9 were recorded in Surinam and the other 7 in Maarssenbroek, The Netherlands. Section 6 is a section with Language data, small sentences and minimal pairs which illustrate unusual phonetic phenomena. Section 7 consists of music recodings of ceremonies and texts of songs. The texts of the songs have been published in Surinam by Robert Kiban.
