Sammy recorded a conversation he had with his friend Eric, Eric's wife Vida and their little daughter Abitele. The daughter had asked her father for money to buy food and told him that she had not eaten yet, while her mother had already given her food. The four people talk about this. There was no outside observer present. The conversation has been transcribed and annotated in ELAN.

Peace tells a story that she has read somewhere. It is a story about a dog who is very greedy and steals meat. Then, when he crosses a river he sees himself in the water and thinks it is another dog with more meat in its mouth. He drops the meat to get the other dog's meat and then he has lost everything. Wisdom then translates the story into English. Then there is some talking between the people present and some proverbs and strange sentences are mentioned. This is also translated by Wisdom. Then there is some more conversation and some more proverbs are mentioned, again translated by Wisdom afterwards. There is one audio recording of this session, and two video recordings. The first video recording includes the story about the dog. The second video recording includes the first proverb telling. Translations are not included on the video recordings.

Saskia asked Elvis to ask Charity how to get to her house. Ernest translated what she said. Then Saskia asked Elvis to ask Ernest the same question. Elvis translated afterwards. Then Elvis gave instructions how to get to his house and Ernest translated. This was the end of a session in which I first got some body part terms, then we went through some elicitation videos and then the children interviewed each other about several things. This recording only contains the directions to Ernest's house, from the place where we were located, which was the Junior Secondary School.

I asked Sammy to make sentences with some nouns, with and without 'definite' suffix. Every now and then I asked if a specific other sentence was also possible. I also asked Sammy to whistle the sentences. This session was designed to find out more about the tones on these nouns, in particular whether they change or not. In the end it doesn't look like I got the right data to check if the tones of the nouns change when followed by a high tone. When I asked for sentences without 'definite' suffix, I often got the noun with demonstrative 'ya' which seems to change the tone of any preceding syllable to extra high. I did get some sentences with the noun without suffix followed by something else, but often they seemed only marginally acceptable.

Saskia made a list of English sentences that express motion and asked Yao to translate these to Avatime. Every now and then she asked if another Avatime sentence was also correct. The goal was to get a first idea of the way motion is expressed in Avatime.
