ZKM tells everything that comes to her mind about hedje, the traditional Even dance. The general description of hedje is intertwined with the anecdotes from ZKM's life concerning singing and music. She also explains the Even custom of feeding the fire, emphasising the importance of fumigation with and without fat, as well as the custom of hanging ribbons on trees. The latter is illustrated with a story about cursed places she recalls from her childhood, including the motive of shaman graves and the attack from the spirits of the dead. In the story, the type of ritual behaviour called "olan" is illustrated, as well as the importance of the hunting ritual instrument of long knife (gid). A ritual of adoption by fire spirits and the ritual fumigation of a new-born baby is also explained.
