Volume of sound file lowered

I am having an issue where I can listen to a sound file on windows media player and it will be at a decent volume, but then when I open it in ELAN the sound is present but so low that I can barely make anything out even with the volume on my computer and in ELAN turned all the way up. Has anyone else had this problem?

I don’t really have an idea but apart from ELAN’s volume level and the general system volume level, there might also be a per-app volume slider in Settings control panel System>Sound>Volume mixer. You probably already checked this, but we have reports that sometimes the per app volume is turned down (e.g. when the media file in ELAN is played by the VLC based player.
Does this concern a video or an audio file? And do you have the default media player framework selected in ELAN?
