Hello! I’m trying to use ELAN 6.4 on macOS 12.6 (Monterey) and have been running into issues with it freezing and/or being slow to respond to key commands. It takes several minutes to pause a video or to move the cursor along the video timeline. It’s not crashing fully so I don’t have a crash report to share. My machine is a 2021 Macbook Pro with an Apple M1 Pro chip and 16GB of memory. Has anyone running a similar setup had this problem? And/or does anyone know how I might be able to fix it?
Thanks in advance!
Hello,
The specifications of the machine shouldn’t be the problem.
The description resembles a bit some of the problems discussed here. In general one can look at the audio visualization options, especially if no additional .wav
file is linked.
I assume this is not the real problem here, if even pausing the video takes a lot of time. I have no immediate explanation for this: even if the video is extremely big and high quality (in terms of resolution, frame rate, duration etc.) I wouldn’t expect pausing the player to take such a long time to respond.
To see if the cause is somehow in the video, could you download one of the ACLEW example sets from our website and see if the same freezing and lagging occurs in that case?

Hello, Han -
Thanks for your reply and for the link to the other posts, which described very accurately the issues I was having. I’ve deselected ‘Spectrogram viewer’ and ‘Signal viewer’ and it seems to be much better now. If necessary, I’ll look at downloading one of the ACLEW examples from the website and post again
Thanks again for your time!
