Fatal error in Debian 10

Hi, I’ve succesfully installed ELAN 5_9 on Debian 10. It opens as well, but when I want to import audio/video files, the program crashes giving me the following error:

A fatal error has been detected by the Java Runtime Environment:

SIGSEGV (0xb) at pc=0x00007c71a454a76a, pid=1735, tid=1808

JRE version: OpenJDK Runtime Environment (11.0.1+13) (build 11.0.1+13)

Java VM: OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (11.0.1+13, mixed mode, tiered, compressed oops, g1 gc, linux-amd64)

Problematic frame:

C [libX11.so.6+0x2e76a]

This might be a bug, so I thought I’d report it.

Hi, thanks for reporting.
Whether or not this is a bug (and then especially in the ELAN parts of the set up) is difficult to tell. The error is rather generic and low level, hard to tell where it actually stems from. Apparently ELAN works until audio or video is added? Did you try to open an existing .eaf file without media files?
If that works it might be worth looking into the different media frameworks to see if all fail or if one of them causes the problem?
