Unable to view video

We recently upgraded our operating system to Windows 10. We have a large number of .eaf files that were created on our previous operating system. We are running Elan 5.8. When we open the .eaf files in Elan, the video is not appearing in the top left corner of the screen as it used to. The annotations appear as normal. When we press play, the audio can still be heard, but no video is playing. Is there a setting that needs to be adjusted? Thank you!

Did you see a message about the program not being able to create a media player for the video file? What is the file type?
Are there any useful messages in the log after opening an eaf file (View->View Log…)?

Hello!
I’m trying to open avi. files using ELAN 5.8, Windows 10. The video is not appearing in the top left corner of the screen. I can, however, hear the sound when playing the file, but no video is playing. How can I fix this? Did you find a solution? Thank you for your help in advance!

In this case it would also be interesting to know if there are meaningful messages about about the avi and especially the video stream of it, in the log mentioned before. Otherwise, and more in general, it might be good to convert avi files sooner or later.
