We cannot get the newest versions of ELAN (5.7 and 5.8) to create new files on our computers. Every time we attempt to start a new file, we are exited out of the software with no error message. We use Windows 10 on our computers. Is there something that needs to be updated on our computers to support the newest versions of ELAN?
Those versions have been tested on several Windows 10 pc’s and in principal no special updates are required.
It sounds like the crash occurs the moment a media player is created. We had one similar report and for testing purposes this can be tried: via Edit->Preferences->Edit Preferences…->Platform/OS tab, switch the Media Framework to JFX Media Player and Apply the change. Then try again. If it works after that, we know a bit more about where to look for the problem.
